Carter Plantation Springfield, Louisiana
Carter Plantation is one of Louisiana’s newest golf and resort communities. This area will bring you back to the days of Southern Plantations in their most beautiful form. This community is home to moss covered, mature oak trees, large pine trees, and beautiful cypress trees. It is simply a nature lover’s paradise. Whether you are outside enjoying the numerous activities that await you in this community or you are inside looking out at all the lovely scenery you will be glad you made this your family destination.
Carter Plantation has been a part of Louisiana since 1804 when the land was purchased from a Spanish land grant. This land was owned by many important people. Statesman, judges, and law officials owned this property, and on a more historic note, the first African American man to every own property in Livingston Parish owned this land as well. The main reason the area has so much rich and vibrant greenery is because the owners of the property had planted trees that they would end up selling. It’s no wonder the landscaping is so lovely there. The actual plantation home is still on the property and is registered as a Historic Home.
David Toms had a shot at building his first signature golf course when he built the design for Carter Plantation. The job was done well and has received favorable reviews and even won a spot on the Golf Magazine’s, Top 10 courses you can play. This course is over 7,000 yards and is a par 72 golf course. When this course was designed every setting in the community was taken into account and this explains why the course winds through the community in a lavish attempt to meet all types of scenery and playing grounds. The main areas you will play over will be wetlands, pine forests, and oak flats. You can expect elevation changes, surprises in the form of bunkers, water hazards, the need for some straight shooting, and more.
Carter Plantation offers some of the best golfing experiences around. They do all they can to follow the standards that has allowed them to be a member of the Louisiana Audubon Golf Trail. Strict standards are followed which allow for the best playing area, amenities, and customer allowances. This community is also set to handle tournaments with PGA standards.
