Steve Stricker For Open Championship

Steve Stricker is all set to play in the Open Championship. And he has very good reasons to go for it.

Steve met reporters at Royal Troon. And this was one of the most popular questions. He didn’t mince words. He gave a direct answer.

Why is he there? What is he doing there? The 49 year old golfer had to give an explanation since he hasn’t competed in the Open Championship since 2012. That year is significant because he announced his retirement in the same year. He said wanted to spend more time with his wife and 2 daughters. Well, as it happens with most the competition junkies, he couldn’t keep away for too long. That’s what happened.

At the 18th green at Royal Troon, he played practice games with players like Marc Warren, Thomas Pieters and Phil Mickelson. After the games, he said that he wants to play few more majors. He made it clear that he’s not done with playing yet. And apparently, he’s itching to get back to it.

Well, looking back, he is the winner of 12 PGA Tour titles. He participated in one of the qualifying events for selecting the top 4. That way, he tried to qualify for the 145th Open Championship. He had already missed the US qualifying round. Therefore, what he showed at TPC Southwind was not as grand as he expected it to be.

He talked about his qualification round of the US Open. He missed it by a shot and he was totally upset with that. As for his latest triumph, he is not exactly proud. But it’s kind of a big deal for him, considering the fact that he wants to create some milestones before he turns 50. He has always been ambitious about his career to this day.
